Beverli Alford established PhotoPlay DZigns Photography (PPD) of Silver Spring, MD in 1996. Born in the last millennium, in White Plains, New York, just 45 minutes north of New York City, she has always been somewhat of a constant star waiting to shine.
After graduating high school and contemplating fashion design at F.I.T., she had to get a real job for sake of marriage and family. Though never far from her dream, Beverli entered into the world of modeling at 19, but still always juggling family and job. She stuck it out for a few years incorporating it with her first love, fashion design. She won trophies for her unique eclectic designs when she was 25 but did not pursue it again until after moving to Maryland in the 80s and only then, some 20 years later in 2006, took out her sketch pad for a second time. If it were not for her daughter Jamia, her muse, who is also a fashion model and has graced the pages of French Elle, Cosmo S.A., Marie Claire, Essence, just to name a few, Beverli may had never picked up a camera.
With her sharp expertise in PhotoShop, Beverli consistenly produces highly effective images for her clients. Check out her clients' comments and view some of her funky slogans and eye catching ads for products and fashion on her site. Someone once said she should work in advertisement or work on a campaign. Given the opportunity, she believes she would. In the meantime, she maintains a faithful team of lighting technicians, makeup artists, hair and clothing stylists to help bring her visions to life.
In addition to her seemingly endless talents, Beverli will launch her first collection of couture and eveningwear simply called “Silk & Satin” in Spring 2008. Watch for it at www.blackhousebyfluid.com. Be surprised . . . stand by for something creative, provocative and carpet ready.
Beverli is a member of Fashion Group International (FGI) of Greater Washington DC, the National Association of Photoshop Professionals (NAPP), and Professional Photographers of America (PPA).
